Meet the Weaver

Hello, I'm Danielle!  Thank you for visiting Winnowing Wovens.

I am married to a wonderful man (cheers to him not batting an eye when I mentioned buying a floor loom!) and am a mother to two little girls -- the oldest of whom I can blame for my introduction to the world of handwoven textiles.  I became interested in handweaving due to the rabbit hole of babywearing.  From long nights and sweet littles who wanted to be close to their mama, learning about babywearing to keep them close became an easy jump.  Buckle carriers turned into ringslings and woven warps, which then lead to handwoven wraps.

One of the first things I pulled off the loom for a short wrap for myself!  I have since branched out to scarves, cowls and shawls with a variety of fabulous fibers.  I also sell handwoven fabric by the meter for whatever use a buyer has in mind.  Nearly everything woven is hand dyed in house and it has been amazing to have a productive creative outlet.

When not in the weaving studio, I can be found spending time with my family or working with new families as a postpartum nurse.
